WICHITA FALLS, TX (RNN Texoma) - Burkburnett and Wichita Falls High School square off this Friday for the blitz on six game of the week.
Both teams are coming off big wins, the bulldogs over rival Iowa Park and Old High getting their first win over Dumas.
“It’s great especially with the rival," Burkburnett head coach Jason Meng said. “It’s a great feeling. The kids enjoyed it they deserved it you got to give credit to Iowa Park they did a heck of a job. Offensively and defensively doing their thing.”
”We are averaging a little over 40 points a game and 450 yards of total offense," WFHS head coach Grant Freeman said. “We just have to continue to do what we have been doing in the first couple of games. One of the things I liked was we spread the ball around it wasn’t just one to two guys. We spread the ball around Vargas played well also used his feet some too. And so it was a overall good offensive performance for us.”
For the Burkburnett Bulldogs, they won in thrilling fashion with a field goal right as the 4th quarter clock was winding down.
“Well a rivalry is always the best to do something against," Burkburnett kicker, who hit the game-winning field goal against Iowa Park, Anthony Gauthier said. "I cant even express in words how happy I was. I was running down the field and I couldn’t breathe afterwards.
“It was just a overload but it felt amazing and that’s something you don’t get the chance to do everyday and I’m really grateful it happened.”
