WICHITA FALLS, TX (RNN Texoma) - Midwestern State University’s Moffett Library played hosted a banned books reception Wednesday, featuring a local expert on the subject.
Dr. Millie Gore became an expert in banned books in the 1990′s after the City of Wichita Falls banned two books from the public library.
The banning of “Heather Has Two Mommies” and “Daddy’s Roommate” from the children’s sections of the library sparked a lawsuit by the ACLU.
Dr. Gore appeared in the trial as an expert witness. She discussed her part in the lawsuit and her book, “All is Assuredly Well,” concerning gay couple adoption.
MSU’s Banned Books Week is now in it’s 13th year.
