WICHITA FALLS, TX (RNN Texoma) - An event where citizens can come together in a neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee with a local officer is taking place on Friday morning.
The Wichita Falls Police Department will host Coffee with a Cop at Frank and Joe’s Coffee House on Friday morning. The public is invited to attend the event that will take place from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at 2919 Bob Avenue in Parker Square.
National Coffee with a Cop Day was Wednesday, October 3, 2018. A majority of our interactions with law enforcement officers are during emergencies, or emotional situations. During those times, it is not ideal to work on building a relationship between officers and the communities they serve.
That is where Coffee with a Cop comes in. This event allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction between officers and members of the community. WFPD says these interactions serve as the foundation of community partnerships.
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
