Allred correctional officer arrested for bribery, contraband

WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - A Correctional Officer at Allred unit in Iowa Park has been arrested after investigators say he was bribed by an inmate to bring contraband into the prison.

Officials say 18 year old Tanner Morris, an officer at the prison, was approached by an offender who offered him cash in exchange for a cell phone and marijuana.

Morris agreed to bring the contraband into the prison in exchange for $1,500.

During a recorded interview with the Captain of the Correctional Officers, Officer Morris stated he had taken a not from the inmate and understood he was to get a cell phone first, then the marijuana separately.

Investigators discovered the cell phone and more than half an ounce of marijuana inside Morris' car on prison grounds.

Officer Morris was arrested on charges of Bribery and two counts of Prohibited Items in a Correctional Facility. His combined bond was set at $50,000.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Morris no longer appears on the Wichita County Jail Inmate Roster.

NewsChannel 6 is working to obtain information regarding a reported second correctional officer arrested for similar charges.
