WFPD: Man arrested for allegedly trying to run over woman

WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Wichita Falls police say a man has been arrested after he tried to run over a relative with his car.

It happened at around 2:30 Sunday afternoon in the 2000 block of Bluff Street, near Central Freeway East and Galveston Street.

Police say 30-year-old Nick Portillo got into an argument with a relative. They add, the argument was not physical until Portillo tried to run the woman over.

The man fled into a nearby relative’s home before police arrived. He even called 911 and spoke with dispatchers while police surrounded the home.

He surrendered after a few minutes, but not before putting up a fight.

Neighbors say multiple police officers had their guns drawn when Portillo stepped out of the house, but he was still combative and arguing with the officers.

Police say he has been charged with Resisting Arrest and Aggravated Assault Family Violence.

They say Portillo allegedly had a gun on him during the incident, but they have not recovered the weapon at this time.
