Police responded to a stolen vehicle call at 2:59 a.m. Sunday. A woman told police her silver Mercury Sable had been stolen by a man named “Looney Tunes,” later identified as White.

Officers said they saw the car nearby and began following it. About six minutes later, they tried to pull the vehicle over on northbound Central Freeway near Maurine Street. White exited at Maurine Street and pulled into the parking lot of a nearby hotel.

Instead of stopping, police said he started accelerating, and officers thought he would try to exit from the other side of the parking lot. Several officers went to block that end of the parking lot, and White drove their direction and swerved in between several police vehicles before turning onto Red Fox Road.

Police continued to chase White until he suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. Police said White then got out of the vehicle and began running through Lynwood East Park. Officers ran after White, shouting for him to stop.

On the other side of the park, police caught up to White and were able to arrest him.

He was taken to the Wichita County Jail. He received two Evading Arrest charges, one for evading with the vehicle and one for evading on foot, a Theft of a Stolen Vehicle charge, and he had one county warrant.
