WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) -
Wichita Falls city officials are talking strategic plans and how they can keep reaching their goals for the city.
Wichita Falls City leaders gathered at the MPEC this morning to collaborate. They talked about what should be done about City Hall, how to keep the eastern side of the city from flooding and ways to keep Midwestern State graduates from leaving town. Mayor Santellana says it is about creating a road map for Wichita Falls to follow for the next couple of years.
“ We want to make sure that we are on the same page when we are pressing forward with taxpayer money,” Mayor Santellana said.
City Manager, Darron Leiker says the economic development plan they put into place has been working well but they need to continue to build on it.
" Economic development, improving the economy of Wichita Falls and part of that process was the economic strategy that we did a year ago with various goals bringing new jobs to Wichita Falls like improving the quality of life making sure that people want to move here and stay here and raise their families here," Leiker said.
Today’s meeting allowed officials an opportunity to introduce ideas, voice concerns and propose solutions. New District five representative Steve Jackson says with so many projects to fund we have to find a way to generate more revenue.
" You got 60,000 airmen getting trained at the base on a yearly bases we should put something out by the base to get some of their money and keep them entertained," Jackson said.
The goal is to have all the details hammered out for that plan and sent to city council within a month.
