BOWIE, TX (TNN) - The Head Girls Basketball Coach in Bowie is under investigation and has been placed on administrative leave, according to Bowie News.
Bowie Coach Chuck Hall was absent from basketball games on February 5 and again for the Lady Rabbits playoff loss Tuesday night.
Bowie News reports a police report was filed on February 5 by the School Resource Officer after he was contacted by Child Protective Services.
The incident reportedly happened in the practice gym of Bowie High School at around 2:00 p.m. on February 1. A 14-year-old male student threw a dodge ball, striking Coach hall in the face.
Witnesses say Hall yelled at the student to get out of his class. An altercation ensued, with Hall being seen, on film, on the ground on top of the teenager. It’s not clear of the student ended up on the ground because he tripped or by some other means.
Bowie News says the coach, allegedly, pulled the boy up by his shoulders or neck to make him leave the gym.
The Bowie ISD website also lists Hall as the Head Coach for Lady Rabbits Cross Country and Track.
Hall was named Bowie’s girl’s head basketball coach in 2016.
