WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Thousands of Texans may get the opportunity to learn more about the history, sights, shops and restaurants of Wichita Falls, if the city wins a contest put on by PBS travel show The Daytripper.
Wednesday is the final day of voting for the contest, a winner will be announced on Thursday.
The contest started with 16 cities across the State of Texas, but has been narrowed down to just two: Wichita Falls and Kerrville.
Wichita Falls leaders hope that winning the contest will be in more visitors to the city.
“A day trip from Dallas or Oklahoma City that’s easy to make," Jeanette Charos Downtown Wichita Falls Development Marketing Director said. “A lot of our cities history is held in downtown so being able to share to show off downtown on a state level would be great to draw in more tourism.”
A report by the Wichita Falls Convention Center and Bureau showed in 2017, the city had 2.55 million tourists, 96 percent of them were Texans.
Many tourists stop by to visit a century-year-old building, The Littlest Skyscraper. The building was featured on the Texas Bucket List, The Travel Channel and The National Geographic.
Voting for the Championship round is taking place now on The Daytripper’s Website.
