WFISD food truck serves lunch to local businesses

WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - For many Wichitans, a bite of a western burger brings back the good ol’ days in the school cafeteria line. Therefore, the Wichita Falls ISD food truck is now rolling up to local businesses to satisfy the craving.

The Executive Chef for WFISD, Chartwells, Carrie Richardson said the community asked for western burgers, so now they are selling them to the public out of the WFISD food truck.

Each stop brings a new location, so on Wednesday, they were at Abner’s Nutrition Center.

On the menu, western burgers, western burger nachos, and much more.

“I bought 24 western burgers because my grandchildren are coming,” said Joyce Gray.

Gray was the first out of many who stopped by on Wednesday to pick up her order after falling in love with them six years ago.

“My grandkids are now young adults and so they are coming and they remembered them and wanted them,” said Gray.

The WFISD food truck has been serving lunch at Wichita Falls businesses for a few weeks now.

While they are always looking to add new locations it looks like Abner’s Nutrition Center has been a good one.

“The food truck has been here, I believe three times,” said the owner of Abner’s Barbara Noble. “I think they are doing pretty well in this location and they want to come back.”

Noble said by having the food truck stop in their parking lot, it’s also bringing a boost to their business.

“They see them {food truck} here and people come and they say ‘Oh well look over here, we might go in and check them {Abner’s} out.'" said Noble.

Richardson said all of the money earned goes right back to the school district.

“Coming to the food truck and being able to get something that brings you back to that nostalgic childhood memory of their cafeteria food growing up..adults just love it,” said Richardson.

The food truck will be at the WFISD Education Center on Broad Street Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

You can track the food truck by checking in on their Facebook page.
