Community comes together in hopes to find cure for Cystic Fibrosis

WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Deli Planet joined with Addy’s Avengers to help raise money for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis Wednesday.

Deli Planet owner Rebecca Rutledge is not worried about trying to hit a goal with the fundraiser since customers would be helping whether they knew it or not.The customers that are eating here today are helping," Rutledge said. "Ten percent of all the food sales goes. They don’t have to say, ‘I’m here for Addy.’
They’re all here for Addy.”

This is the second event that Deli Planet has hosted to help Addy’s Avengers, and Addy Mann and her mom, Whitney Mann, couldn’t be happier.

“It blows me away. This town is remarkable," Whitney Mann said. "It’s the second year we’ve done this, and last year blew it out of the water. This year, I missed the lunch rush, but my phone has been blowing up saying ‘So and so’s here.’”

What it all comes down to is a bond between the family and the restaurant.

“They’re more like family than customers, and of course it would just be like if we were raising it for our own children," Rutledge said. “We feel like Addy is such a close customer family that we just reach out to those people more.”

Supporting the cause and helping a young girl makes it a difference she wants to see.

“I wanna help people because, if they’re in the hospital, I want to cheer them up," Addy Mann said. "So they could feel happy from being in the hospital that long.”
