WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Hundreds celebrated in downtown Wichita Falls for the Downtown Development St. Patrick’s Day Street Festival on Saturday.
Vern Huffines has been attending the event since it started about 20 years ago.
“I just love the St. Patrick’s day festival it is one of the most fun things that is done here in Wichita Falls. The fest has great vendors, great music, and great food. It is just exciting, and I just love every bit of it,” said Huffines
Several first-time event-goers said they attended the festival because they heard it would be fun while others return year after year.
“I love the music, he likes the rock n roll music I like the oldies,” said Mary Harris, returning event-goer.
The festival included games, raffles, live music, and DJ Marcus Manic McGee, giving guest some musical variety.
“Playing some tunes for the people, to get them pumped up and they were off and running,” said McGee.
Some people danced to music, and others fancied the food truck area. Some were just excited to pull out some of their favorite Irish themed fashions.
A few attendees also mentioned they think the great weather played a role in more people turning out this year.
Marcus McGee agreed that this years turn-out exceeded last years.
“This year is amazing I never saw these many people coming out to support downtown Wichita Falls. It is awesome,” said McGee.
The proceeds from ticket sales for the St. Patty’s day festival will go towards downtown Wichita Falls development and help them with future projects aimed at revitalizing and growing downtown.
