Teachers get big award from Red River Chevy Dealers

WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - We told you back in January how to nominate local teachers for a big award and today, two Oklahoma teachers got those awards at a ceremony in Altus.

This was all put on by Red River Chevy dealers.

First place and $2,500 went to Elgin Middle School 7th grade geography teacher Melissa Evon, who represented Lawton Classic Chevrolet.

She says she is thankful to win such a big award.

“It’s really overwhelming. I really believe in my heart that I have the greatest job in the world and I have the greatest kids, so to be recognized like this is so overwhelming and I’m so grateful to the people who took the time to have this happen and recognizing the work of educators,” Evon said.

Representing Wilmes Chevrolet in Altus was second place winner Tammy Richeson of Altus Elementary School, where she teaches third and fourth grade students.

Congratulations to both winners!

Winners south of the Red River are expected to be announced soon. Stay with six for the latest as we hope to highlight those Texas educators being honored next week.
