W.F. Shooting Leaves One Dead, One Arrested

Posted: Updated:

A man accused and charged with murder is out of jail tonight, not even 24 hours after he allegedly shot and killed another man.

Wichita Falls Police Department said that 36-year-old Jason Robert Acheson surrendered to detectives after killing 36-year-old Simon David Gonzales. He was released on a $25,000 bond.

At 2:05 a.m. March 20th, officers responded to a call at 305 N. Scott Street. First responders cared to Gonzales there and later transported him by ambulance to United Regional Hospital. He died there a short time later.

Acheson surrendered to detectives from the Criminal Investigation section, who then detained him and sent him to the Wichita County Jail.

Acheson has been charged with murder.

Police added that Gonzales' body has been sent to the Tarrant County Coroner's Office for autopsy.

As of this afternoon the case remains under investigation.
