The deadline for Texans to register to vote in the May election is Thursday, April 14.
While there are no statewide issues on the May 14 ballot, many cities, school districts and other local entities will hold elections to determine local leaders and vote on local issues.
Voter registration applications are available at county elections offices, some post offices and libraries, or on the state's voter information website. Click here to go to that website.
Texas residents are eligible to vote if they are a United States citizen, at least 18 years old on Election Day, not a convicted felon (unless sentence, probation, and/or parole have been completed), and not declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law.
