    At Midwestern State University dozens of students in the Cafe's Road to College program spent the day learning STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) on Saturday. The tutorial was given by instructors from Dexter Learning, a Wichita Falls STEM education businesses.

    More than 40 Texoma students have more money to help follow their dreams after winning scholarships at the 13th annual Zavala Heritage Hispanic Leadership Banquet on Saturday. The total amount of the scholarships is about $40,000. "I really didn't think I was going to win because there were so many other kids going to that program too and wanted that help," Yesenia Aranda,17, said.

    Students around Texoma joined their peers across the country by protesting gun violence through the National Walk Out Day Friday morning. The protest was planned on the 19th anniversary of the Columbine shooting where 12 students and one teacher were killed. Students from three Wichita Falls ISD high schools Rider, Old High and Hirschi School and Iowa Park High School participated in the walkout.

Dwayne Jackson, owner of Backdoor Theater and Wichita Theater, will open his newest business, Stage 2 a new dinner theater, on April 19.

    Some Graham High School students went through a real-world simulator held by the Young County Texas A&M Extension Agency. It was the inaugural "Dose of Reality" simulation in the county. High school students were given jobs and had to budget their monthly salary to pay for rent, car payments, credit card payments and everything else an adult pays for.

    The cold weather did not ruffle all the feathers at the 12th annual Turkey Fest in Henrietta on Saturday. KJ Harvick, the event's director, said around 4,0000 people typically come out every year. She said rescheduling was not an option since the turkey hunt and beard competition already kicked off Wednesday.

    The cold weather on Saturday caused further delays to a house rebuilding project for a homeless veteran. "He's working construction himself so he knows construction happens," Chris De La Garza North Texas Veterans Relief Fund Vice-Chair said.  The Wichita Falls house the non-profit is repairing belongs to U.S. Army veteran Casey McCain. It is his childhood home.
