Texoma is experiencing some of its warmest air so far in this year. Most Texoma towns will reach the mid-80s before the sun goes down. It is not out of the question for someone to briefly touch 90 degrees today. At the 2:00PM observation, Jayton, TX, (just west of Haskell) was reporting 87 degrees.
A powerful cold front will sweep across the area tonight and this will keep the strong winds around. In fact, winds may actually get a little stronger as we head towards midnight. A Wind Advisory is in effect. We could see some gusts near 50 miles per hour.
By Wednesday morning, temperatures will settle into the mid and upper 30s but the wind chill will make it feel at least 15 degrees colder than that. The afternoon will be much cooler than today. Highs will reach the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. Despite the strong nature of this front, it will not provide rain and will barely produce any clouds.
We are tracking another system that will move across the area over the weekend. This could provide us with a chance for some rain. We will fine tune the forecast as the weekend gets closer.
