Rib Dinner Raises Money for Cancer Patient

Texomans served up and enjoyed mounds of ribs tonight. And as if enjoying that feast wasn't enough, they also got to help out a good friend.

Folks gathered at the Iowa Park high school cafeteria Saturday to help raise money for Chris Gartman. The Texas Ragdolls coach was diagnosed with a brain tumor back in April.

Money raised will help pay for radiation treatments. His family says Gartman is in faring well.

"He's doing much better," said his daughter Christal Gartman-Ortega. "His spirits are very good and everyone that comes out and supports is a lot of help."

Gartman is expected to need four more treatments. In addition to the rib plates, there was a silent auction to help raise funds, and live music played throughout the event.
