Wichita County Commissioners have taken another step toward a new county jail.
The commissioners met to discuss signing a contract with Patterson Auto Center to buy the former Downtown Auto Mall.
They want to possibly use that land for a new Wichita County Jail. The county has already invested money into site assessments. One stipulation in that contract will be that the county can opt out at no cost. With the money already invested for site assessments if one comes back with a problem the county wants to be able to get out if it is found that the property is not suitable for the jail.
