WFPD Say A Man Accidentally Shot His Wife

Wichita Falls Police said a man accidentally shot his wife in the abdomen overnight.

The woman is expected to undergo surgery Wednesday at United Regional Hospital.

Police said the couple was sitting on their front porch in the 1300 block of North 9th Street when she was shot.

Officers said around 1 a.m. the couple yelled at driver speeding down their street. Fearing retaliation the wife went into the home and brought her husband a semi-automatic handgun. Officers say the gun misfired as the man was swapping out its magazines.

Police are investigating, but do believe this was an accident.
