Multiple Agencies Fighting Grass Fire In Archer Co.

Multiple fire departments are working together to put out a massive grass fire five miles northwest of Archer City.

Crews were called to the scene around one this afternoon to put out the blaze that was already raging out of control. Archer City, Holliday, Lakeside City and Lake Kickapoo Fire Departments responded to the scene. Officials said they have had a hard time containing the blaze, but they believe they have about 90% of it under control. So far it has burned 220 acres. As of 5:30 p.m. most of the fire departments were cleared from the area. Only Archer City and Lack Kickapoo crews remained at the scene.

There are several oil leases on the property, but no one lives there.
