Wichita County officials were in Austin today meeting with the Texas Jail Commission.
Judge Woody Gossom, County Commissioner Ray Gonzalez and Sheriff David Duke presented a report on the temporary repairs to the Wichita County Jail. Last spring a leak in the roof at the jail caused the county to relocate inmates to neighboring county jails while it was fixed. The temporary fix has held up and the plan for a permanent fix has been approved and will take place later this year. Wichita County is also working on plans for a new jail addition in the near future.
Judge Woody Gossom told Newschannel Six their report met the State Jail Commission's expectations. He also added that Wichita County appears to be doing well compared to other counties in Texas.
