Oklahoma's tax free holiday is this weekend. It started Friday, August 6th and goes through Sunday the 8th. Texas will host its version August 20th through the 22nd.
In both states, clothes and shoes priced under 100 dollars are tax exempt. In recent years Texas State Legislators added backpacks under $100 to the tax free list.
The 2009 Legislature expanded the list of items qualifying for tax exemption during the three-day weekend. Texas families get a sales tax break on most school supplies priced at less than $100 purchased for use by a student in an elementary or secondary school.
