Proposed Defense Cuts Anger Virginia Senators

The jobs of 3,000 people in Virginia are on the line, if proposed budget cuts in the Defense Department go through as planned.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates says the sluggish economy requires Defense spending be slashed by 100 billion dollars in 5 years.

Gates told reporters at a press conference on Monday that getting rid of Joint Forces Command and other job cuts were necessary so the military has enough money to repair itself after several years of war.
