Education Superhighway Gets Another Rider

Another small Texoma school district is taking a technological leap in education. The Forestburg ISD has used federal stimulus money to purchase 90 laptop computers. 55 of those will be used by students. A one time fee of $40 will get a laptop for a student to use the entire school year. Forestburg ISD Superintendent Dr. Fonda Huneycutt tells us most of the students textbooks can be downloaded to the new computers. The laptops will only be used by the high school age students this year. Dr. Huneycutt said they anticipate more federal money that could get computers to the districts 7th and 8th graders in the near future. Forestburg is one of the many schools that are allowing students to take home and use portable computers to enhance their education.
