High School Football: AP Poll, Scrimmages

The Pre-Season AP High School Football Poll came out Thursday.

No Texoma teams made the Top Ten in their Class, though a pair of Rider and WFHS's district rivals got mentions.

Denton Ryan was ranked #5 in Class 4A, while former Vernon Head Coach Keith Hall's Denton Broncos received four votes.

In Class 3A the defending Division II State Finalist Graham Steers got three votes, good for 20th in the state.

And in Class A, in which Divisions I and II are combined for the poll, Munday got eight votes, 15th-most in the state, while the Archer City Wildcats were recognized with one vote.

Some schools also held scrimmages on Thursday.

City View hosted Quanah and won the timed portion of the scrimmage 19-7, scoring three touchdowns but converting only one PAT. The Indians scored on a 60-yards run by Roderick Woodard.

Thursday night, Henrietta faced Hirschi at Memorial Stadium. They played to a scoreless draw in the timed portion of the scrimmage.

Hirschi's defense allowed some yards early but got a big stop on a 4th-and-1 play early in the quarter, then Henrietta's Brandon Lavy had an interception late in the scrimmage.
