Man Shoots Dog, Charges Filed

An 80 year old man is facing animal cruelty charges for shooting and killing a dog.
Police say witnesses heard shots around two Wednesday afternoon. The dog was found in the 500 block of White street.
Police say when they arrived, they saw a man with a rifle in his hand behind one a house.
The 80-year-old suspect told officers he was working in his yard and saw the dog.
He said he's had problems with dogs in the past, so he went to get his rifle just in case.
He told police the dog got aggressive, and he shot the animal in the head.
The man is facing a misdemeanor charge of Discharging a Firearm, and a misdemeanor charge of Cruelty to Animals.
He was not arrested and his name has not been released.
