Less Oklahomans Are Filing For Bankruptcy

In Oklahoma the number of people filing bankruptcy has fallen below the national average.

Figures show 3.85 non-business bankruptcy filings per 1,000 people in 2009 in Oklahoma while nationally there are 4.73 filings per 1,000 people.

Economists say the unemployment rate of 6.9% compared to 9.6% nationally could be the reason the filings are low.
