Billboard Kills Holliday Man

Jacksboro officials are investigating a freak accident that killed a Holliday man.

Jacksboro officers said a three man crew from Amsco Steel was working on a billboard Friday morning in the 900 block of South Main Street.

They said a gust of wind blew the signs over and they crushed the owner, 59-year-old Ralph Surles, to death.

The crew was in the process of moving the signs, when the accident happened.

Crew member 43-year-old Jesus Lopez suffered blunt force trauma. He was treated and released from the hospital. A third crew-member, Larry Carroll of Wichita Falls, was not injured.
