Two Injured In Fort Bliss Shooting

One person is dead and two others are injured, after a gunman opened fire at a small grocery store on Ft. Bliss.

A Colonel from the base near El Paso said the shooter was killed by responding officers.

Officials have declined to comment on the victims conditions or any other details about Monday's shooting, only that it happened around 3:00 p.m.

And that officers responded to the scene in under five minutes.

A Fort Bliss spokesman said the shooting is under investigation.

"The scene is now secure, the FBI is in control," Colonel Joseph Simonelli said. "The criminal investigation division is assisting, and that's all the information I have to release at this time."

The Colonel added that the posts emergency notification system worked well.

The two victims were taken to nearby army medical center.
