Altus City Council To Decide On Where To House Inmates

On Tuesday night, the Altus City Council will decide whether to continue housing inmates at the city's Community Work Center.  A contract with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections is up for vote, and this could be a close one.

Some officials say if inmates aren't brought to the city's Work Center, the city will have to hire 35 to 50 new employees. But, other officials don't believe Altus residents want the program to continue.

The city administrator says Altus held a previous contract with the Department of Corrections for nearly a decade.
