Clay County Wreck Sends Two To The Hospital

A Friday morning wreck in Clay County sent two people to the hospital.

The accident happened on highway 79 north of Byers.
DPS troopers say a flat bed pickup pulled onto the highway in front of a  tractor-trailer causing the two to collide.

There were two people inside the truck. Blake Barnett is in fair condition at Parkland Hospital. Andy Jones is listed in fair condition at United Regional Hospital.

The driver of the tractor-trailer is ok.

Traffic was moving slowly as law enforcement had to close down one lane to get to dozens of cattle that were trapped on the semi.

Jody Wade with Big Daddy Collins and Donny's Wrecker Service said, "Our main job at this point is to save as many cows as we can. The truck & trailer are a total loss so that's why we are putting all our attention on saving these cattle."
