The Wichita Falls Mail Processing Annex could possibly close. Mayor Glenn Barham says that could take 70 jobs from Wichita Falls.
The U.S. Postal Service is currently conducting a feasibility study to see if the annex could be moved to a processing center in Fort Worth.
Closure for this facility could mean local mail would be sorted in Fort Worth and then returned to Wichita Falls for distribution.
Mayor Barham is encouraging citizens to "let their voices be heard" to help save the annex. "If the service center is not efficient then they are going to move everything to Fort Worth which would mean we would lose 50 to 70 jobs locally and we don't need that to happen."
The city is conducting an opinion survey that will be sent to the United States Postal Service's Fort Worth district.
