President Obama Supports Longer School Year

American children could some day see longer school years.

President Barack Obama has thrown his support for a longer year saying American kids lose a lot of what they learn during the summer.

But some state and local officials around the U.S. say it is easier said than done.

Teachers unions say they are open to discussion but, salaries would need to be apart of the conversation.

On average, an American school offers 180 instruction days per year compared to 196 days in other countries.
