The Hirschi Huskies got on the board first on Thursday night, but the Holliday Eagles got the last laugh, taking a 21-7 win at Memorial Stadium.
Hirschi went 76 yards in 3 plays after a roughing-the-kicker penalty on 4th and 18 gave them new life to take a 7-0 lead on a touchdown run by quarterback Trey Thomas.
But after a short punt from the Huskies' end zone gave Holliday the ball at the Hirschi 20 yard line, the Eagles gave the ball to Tyler Cole, and he paid it off with a touchdown run to tie the game.
Holliday added a 28-yard field goal as time expired in the first half. They had actually missed a 33-yarder, but Hirschi was offside, giving Randy Rodgers Pre-season All-Academic performer Bryce Davis a second chance, which he converted.
In the third quarter, Davis added another field goal to stretch the lead to 13-7, and Cole sealed the win with an interception return for a touchdown, and then scored on a two-point conversion for the final margin.
