The recent resignation of Bowie ISD superintendent and a teacher were discussed Friday by the Bowie Board of Education at a special meeting.
Those issues have some Bowie parent's concerned about the future of the district. Newschannel 6 spoke with Interim Superintendent Lisa Gonzales shortly after the meeting.
"We're still running a very good school district with very qualified teachers staff and administrators they are doing a great job even in a time of challenge," said Lisa Gonzales, Interim Superintendent Bowie ISD.
September 20th the former superintendent of Bowie ISD, Greg Evans resigned. Since then another resignation letter has been turned into the district.
"Basically in the open session we were able to report the resignation of Mrs. Tomblinson and things of that matter and the board accepted," said Gonzales.
Tomblinson's resignation letter was accepted across the board, and is effective immediately.
Interim Superintendent Lisa Gonzales' faith in the people behind the Bowie School District stays strong.
"Bowie ISD will continue to be focused and resilient when any kind of challenge comes along but we do still keep our focus very much on our goal which is a quality education for our students," said Gonzales.
Gonzales wants people to know Bowie ISD hasn't lost site of their main focus.
"We're all on the same page their children are our number one concern and our goal for being here every day," said Gonzales.
Also discussed at the meeting, Kevin Roth was appointed for the vacant trustee position on the school board. He has yet to accept that appointment.
