Holliday's Tyler Cole is Player of the Week

We had maybe our closest-ever race for the Papa John's Player of the Week Award this week.

All three nominees had great games.

Rider's Deron Royster ran for almost a 190 yards and three touchdowns against Lake Dallas in helping the Raiders to 1st place in the district.

Windthorst's Tyler Berardi went over 200 yards with three rushing touchdowns and another receiving score in a big win over Henrietta as the Trojans go into their bye week.

But Holliday's Tyler Cole gets the edge by starring two ways--148 yards and a score on the ground, and a pair of interceptions, one of which he brought back for a touchdown. He also scored the two-point conversion after his Pick-Six.

The great two-way effort under the Thursday Night Lights earn Cole our Papa John's Player of the Week Award!

When asked about his big game, Cole said, "We came out strong. We knew Hirschi was going to be good and we knew they were going to be fast. We've also been working on coming out to play in the second half and overall we just put in a solid game, all four quarters."

On where his team is entering District 3-2A-II play:

"I feel we gained some momentum coming off that win, and I feel like we're in a pretty good spot."

On who he would thank for helping him to the big game:

"Just the whole team. It was definitely a team effort. We had some guys down, we needed backups, and everybody played good."

And on what he though when he caught the final interception that sealed the game:

"'I'm glad, the game's almost over. We did it.'"
