Thousands Run in Race for the Cure

Thousands of Texoma runners and walkers donning pink joined forces in the battle against breast cancer. The 14th annual Komen Wichita Falls Race for the Cure drew a huge crowd Saturday.

Seventy five percent of proceeds from the event go to Texoma education, screening and treatment programs. Last year, the event brought in nearly $150,000 for local breast cancer programs.

The event featured a one-mile run/walk as well as the main event, a 5K run. The races started and finished in front of the Wichita County Courthouse on Lamar St.

The main race had over 3,000 participants.
