College Dropouts Costing Taxpayers

A new reports shows college dropouts are costing the taxpayers billions of dollars.  Between 2003 and 2008 states appropriated a little more than $6 billion to four-year universities to help pay for students who dropped out after a year.  These numbers are meant to advance the argument that college completion rates need improvement, but it could also fuel critics who believe too many students attend four-year schools at a great cost to taxpayers.
