Perry Issues Appeal For Disaster Declaration Decision

The Texas Governor is making an appeal to the President about the decision not issue a Disaster Declaration for parts of the Lone Star State.

Governor Rick Perry requested federal aid for 13 counties hit hardest by Tropical Storm Hermine.

That request was denied.

FEMA says the "severity and magnitude" of the storms aftermath did not exceed the capabilities of state and local governments.

It would have freed up nearly $7 million in aid.

Nearly 200 homes were destroyed. Eight people died.
