Gen. Petraeus to Brief Alliance Members

NATO's top commander in Afghanistan will briefing alliance members Wednesday.

General David Petraeus is expected deliver a cautiously upbeat assessment of the wars progress.

The briefing comes a day ahead of the first ever joint conference of NATO foreign and defense ministers.

Thursday's meeting is an attempt to bridge a rift between the U.S. who favors a greater international role for the alliance and the European nations who want to retain its traditional role.
