Keith Dyer Suspends Campaign

Less then three weeks before the November 2nd election and there is major controversy surrounding the house seat for District 13.

Keith Dyer has suspended his campaign.

The independent candidate voted in the republican primary.

In an e-mail from the state election divisions staff to the Dyer campaign, officials say if Dyer voted in that primary earlier this year where his opponent, Republican Incumbent Mac Thornberry was nominated by the party, Dyer is ineligible to be an independent candidate.

Newschannel 6 has obtained a document from the Secretary of State's Election Office regarding the controversy.

The letter says Dyer will stay on the ballot because the deadline to remove his name has passed.

However if he were to win, his ineligibility would cause that seat to be vacant.
