Global Handwashing Day: Wash 'em if Ya Got 'em

October 15th is celebrated as the Global Handwashing Day with the support of the United Nations for children to promote hygienic practice in schools and communities. Wash hands with soap can save lives. It is a simple daily habit but unfortunately not always met, thus endangering our health. To promote the practice of hand hygiene in schools and communities more than 80 countries participate in Global Handwashing Day.

The simple act of washing hands is important to prevent a long series of acute respiratory infections and intestinal diseases which are responsible each year for the death of more than 3 and a half million children under five years worldwide

Wash your hands with soap and water especially after using the toilet and before handling food, helps to reduce the incidence of diarrheal disease more than 40 per cent and acute respiratory infections by 23 percent, yet this simple behavior is not practiced regularly.
