Windthorst's Joe Hoegger Named Player of the Week

After a big week of football, we had three great nominees for our Papa John's Player of the Week Award, two of them from the same game in Iowa Park.

First up is Graham Steers Quarterback Lane Bynum. In that big time game against the Hawks, he showed no signs of pressure.

He passed for 165 yards with 3 touchdowns and his Steers beat the Hawks 27-21.

Next up is Lee Clubb, the other QB in that game.

Despite the loss, he played very well: 266 yards through the air with three scores, a valiant effort from the Hawk Senior.

But your winner had to be Joe Hoegger, Quarterback for the Windthorst Trojans.

In our Dr Pepper Game of the Week he stepped up, combining for 266 yards and two touchdowns through the air and on the ground, helping the Trojans to a 37-0 win over their rivals, Archer City.

Monday afternoon Newschannel Six's Charlie Bartlett caught up with Hoegger at Windthorst's practice to present his award.

"I feel very excited right now," said Hoegger, standing in front of his teammates. "But I couldn't do any of it without them."

"We all played pretty good [against Archer City]," Hoegger continued. "We all came together as a team, and I think if we can keep doing that we can win.

"[The win] got our blood pumping a bit, but I've got to give it all to my offensive was more of a team award than an individual award."

Remember to email your nominations for next week's Papa John's Player of the Week award, starting Friday night.

We'll announce three nominees Saturday and the winner on Monday!
