Convincing Convict Slips Out Of Okla. Jail

A convicted felon is on the loose after slipping out of an Oklahoma jail.

Authorities say the Missouri man was very clever, he altered his appearance to look like his cellmate.

Officers say several inmates at the detention center allegedly conspired with Rowdy Offield to deceive jailers into thinking he was a prisoner whose bond had been posted.

"He shaved his head. He shaved his facial hair. He created what we believe to be a temporary tattoo on his face with some type of pencil or marker," Cleveland County Sheriff Deputy Rhett Burnett said.

Offield was being held on a robbery charge.

Officials last saw him Monday evening walking north from the jail.

An investigation is underway to determine how to prevent such an escape in the future.
