VFD's Ready For High Fire Danger Days

Today's wind and warmer temperatures raised the fire danger in the area. The threat for wildfires was high despite the recent rain from this weekend.
Newschannel Six wanted to find out how area volunteer fire departments prepare themselves for days just like today that put them on high alert.

Bowman VFD Captain John Stranski said, "It puts us on a higher level of alert. We have to deal with not only just the fires but also the danger of the wind driving the flames into areas that we might not have thought that this area's gonna go on fire, but all of a sudden it does."

There have been large wildfires in Clay and Archer counties this year, and other small fires around the area.
