France Raises Retirement Age

France's massive retirement strikes appear to be losing steam.  The protest over the past few weeks did not sway the French Senate.  The Upper House approved the controversial pension reform bill raising the retirement age to 62.  In some of the cities this morning, striking garbage collectors got back to work, chipping away the trash stockpiles in the streets.  Still, other industries are striking, affecting schools, trains, and gas stations.
