Vernon Man Sentenced To Prison

A Vernon man is going to prison on an injury to a child conviction. A Wilbarger County jury found 26-year-old Johnny Lee Harris guilty yesterday.

Police were called to a residence on October 25, 2009, for a non-responsive six month old. The baby was found to have been shaken and also forced to impact an object, like a wall or the floor. The baby did not die, but will face life-long disabilities and is blind.

Harris is sentenced to 45 years in prison for causing the injuries. He will not be eligible for parole for at least half that time.
