Copper Thief Behind Bars

A copper thief is behind bars.

Officers say a person reported copper valued at more than $1,000 stolen from Wichita Pipe and Supply on Ohio Street.

The reporting person said 29-year-old Jeremy Crews came into the business to buy the copper and charged it to a company account.

The company claimed no one matching Crews description worked there.

Officers then located places where Crews sold large amounts of copper and brass at local scrap yards.

Officers watched surveillance showing Crews at Wichita Pipe and Supply making fraudulent purchases.
