The Hirschi Huskies finally got their first District win since 2006 with a come-from-behind 14-10 win over Vernon on Senior Night.
Hirschi jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a touchdown pass from Tre Thomas to Dominique Bobo, but Vernon tied it when Hirschi punter Alejandro Campos couldn't handle a high snap and the Lions' Adrian Escobar brought it in for a touchdown.
After a series of turnovers by both teams, Vernon took a 10-7 lead into the half on a field goal by Alfredo Gonzales.
But the Huskies scored a touchdown for the only points of the second half and took a 14-10 win, leaving Vernon still winless on the season at 0-9 (0-4 in District) with Iowa Park coming to town for the season finale next week. The loss also officially eliminates the Lions from playoff contention.
The Huskies go to 2-7 on the season, 1-3 in District 6-3A play, but they are still eliminated from any post-season chances.
